Cyborg 0.1 is a speculative design imagining how the future of the female body could be transformed and repositioned. The main part of this piece consists of a motor in a womb-shaped transparent box, mirrors as the bottom wearable, and a womb-shaped hat with light-conductive wires. This piece plays with the concept of being a cyborg. According to Haraway, a cyborg rejects the whole organic self. The idea of cyborg envisions a post-gender future where gender norms are rejected, and human reproduction is replaced by replication. Cyborg 0.1 acts as a speculative design piece based on Haraway’s concept of cyborg, and an expressive garment to reimagine the female body. This project aims to challenge the historical and stereotypical bias on the womb as a container hidden inside the female body and to arouse discussions on the blurred boundaries between humans and machines in a cybernetic era.

Insipired by the mechanism part(how he incorporated the motor as part of the garment), giving me a sense of half machine half human.
